If you’re new to the sport, you may wonder what all the yelling is about on the curling ice. In this video, U.S. Olympian John Shuster and bunch of science guys explains why we’re shouting all the time and much of the physics that makes curling work.
The 2010 Winter Olympics are nearly upon us and, if 2002 and 2006 are barometers, we expect that many people will seek out an opportunity to try curling — the world’s greatest sport — at our club.
Not only will we be hosting an Open House on February 28th from 2-6 PM but we’ll also be following up in March with a Learn-to-Curl program and an Instructional League for newcomers to the game. If you’ve always wanted to see if curling is the sport for you, this is the year to find out.
NY Japion, a weekly Japanese newspaper based in New York, sent a reporter to our recent new curler clinic. The featured article was published in the Jan. 8th edition and includes photos of John Wilman, John Pantina, and president Dean Gemmell. Aya Takeichi is quoted in the article. NY Japion is available online, and free printed editions are available at many Japanese establishments in the New York tri-state area. Thank you, Japion!
